ProvenShot is an app that creates verifiable proof of your photos and videos. When you capture something with ProvenShot, we lock the exact time and GPS location, and generate a unique digital fingerprint of the content — creating a tamper-evident certificate. Think of it as a "verified" badge for your real-life content.

A proof is a single verified capture — one photo or one video — taken directly through the ProvenShot app. Each proof locks the exact time, GPS location, and a unique digital fingerprint of your content.

For photos: 1 photo = 1 proof. Simple as that.
For video: Every 10 seconds of video = 1 proof. So a 30-second video uses 3 proofs. This is because video requires more processing and storage to verify.

Your plan or pack determines how many proofs you have available each month.

ProvenShot adds four guarantees to every capture:

Verified Location. The exact place where the capture happened, recorded at the moment of capture.
Verified Time & Date. The exact moment the photo or video was taken.
Verified Integrity. Any later change can be detected by comparing the file with its certified digital fingerprint.
No Gen AI. Real Proof. Proofs can only be created with the in-app camera — no imports from your gallery or other sources. That's what rules out generative AI: ProvenShot certifies the origin of the capture; it is not an AI detector for arbitrary files.

Anyone can verify it by scanning the QR code or checking the ProvenShot seal.

Yes! You capture in ProvenShot, then share anywhere. Your content carries a visible ProvenShot Verified seal that works on any platform. Your audience can scan the QR or visit our verifier to confirm that it matches the certified record.

Yes! The Free plan gives you 5 proofs per month — enough to try it out. If you need more, you can upgrade to a monthly plan or buy a one-time Proof Pack. Verification is always free for everyone.

A Proof Pack is a one-time purchase of proofs — no subscription needed. Going on a trip? Buy a Trip Pack (25 proofs for €7.99). Got an event? Grab an Event Pack (10 proofs for €3.99). Use them whenever you want, they don't expire.

Yes! Verification is free and open to everyone. No account needed. Anyone can scan a ProvenShot QR code or enter a verification code on our website to check if the content matches a certified record. That's the whole point — public trust.

If you find content that you believe infringes your rights or shouldn't be public, you can report it from its verification page. Sending a report requires a ProvenShot account and an active session.

Yes, from the Pro plan onwards. You can capture short-form video directly in ProvenShot with the same proof guarantees as photos. 10 seconds of video = 1 proof.

ProvenShot stores the account and technical data needed to operate the service and maintain your proofs. When you certify a photo or video, a copy of the certified media is stored in the cloud so your proof stays verifiable — see “Where is my certified media stored?” below. Precise location is collected only at the moment of capture, never through background tracking, and you control which details (like location) are publicly visible on each proof. We do not sell personal data. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

Certified photos and videos are stored in the cloud (Amazon Web Services S3, EU region) and served through the CloudFront content delivery network, so your proofs can be verified from anywhere. What's publicly visible is always under your control: the public verifier only shows the details you chose to share for each proof.

If you delete a proof, it disappears from your gallery and its public verification page is no longer available. If you delete your account — from the app or at provenshot.com/account-deletion — your proofs stop being publicly verifiable and your personal data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy: we only keep the minimum information we're legally required to retain (for example, billing records), for the legally required time.
